Working Principle of Valve Electric Actuators
Published: 2023-11-03 Author: Chenglei Valve

Electric actuators are commonly used field control equipment in long-distance natural gas pipelines. Their level of intelligence, the amount of information they contain, and their fault diagnosis and fault tolerance capabilities directly affect the reliability, stability, and ease of use of the data acquisition and monitoring system. In large stations, the number is large and scattered, and the use of ordinary hard wiring is numerous, which to some extent complicates the design of the station monitoring system.

Different valve electric actuator fieldbus control systems are basically the same in structure. They generally consist of a master control station, a communication loop, and field units (the body being the valve actuator).

During system operation, in addition to normal work, the loop cable is continuously scanned and queried to determine whether it is intact. If the communication loop is intact, the master control station will send control commands to the field unit through the loop cable according to the needs of process control, while receiving the working status information sent back by the field unit. Of course, all field units have been pre-set with addresses and are ready to receive commands and respond to queries at any time. Under normal circumstances, the master control station will send commands several times. Each time a command is sent, it must receive a response from the addressed field unit, otherwise, the electric actuator system will handle it as a loop fault. The response time of the field unit is determined by the number of field units and the loop distance.

Solenoid Valve Products Prone to Corrosion? You Need to Know These Methods
There are many factors that affect the service life of solenoid valve products, with corrosion being one of the most significant. To extend the service life of solenoid valves and improve project safety, anti-corrosion is an important consideration. How can solenoid valve products be effectively protected? What should you pay attention to when purchasing? You need to know the following methods.Choose Corrosion-Resistant Materials Based on Medium TypeIn actual production, the types of media that solenoid valves face are diverse. Even for the same medium, the corrosion rate of materials varies under different pressures, temperatures, and concentrations. For example, aluminum is highly corrosive in concentrated nitric acid above 80% concentration, but is not severely corroded in medium and low concentration nitric acid. Carbon steel is most severely corroded in 50% sulfuric acid, but when the concentration exceeds 90%, the corrosion drops sharply. Therefore, when purchasing solenoid valve products, you can specifically analyze the medium type and the corrosion degree of different concentrations on materials, or consult directly with the manufacturer.Choose Corrosion-Resistant Solenoid ValvesWhen selecting solenoid valves, priority should be given to materials with good corrosion resistance. Common corrosion-resistant materials include stainless steel, plastic lined, and various alloy materials. Stainless steel has good resistance to oxidation and corrosion, suitable for most acid, alkali, and salt environments. Plastic lined solenoid valves combine the strength of metal with the corrosion resistance of plastic, making them suitable for strong corrosive media. Alloy materials are suitable for special high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosive working conditions. In addition, the sealing material of the solenoid valve is also crucial. Selecting appropriate sealing materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) can effectively improve the corrosion resistance of the solenoid valve.Regular Maintenance and InspectionRegular maintenance and inspection of solenoid valves are important measures to prevent corrosion. The operating status of the solenoid valve should be checked regularly. Once signs of corrosion are found, measures should be taken in time. In addition, keeping the solenoid valve and its environment clean and dry can also effectively slow down the corrosion process. Selecting an appropriate protective coating for the external surface of the solenoid valve can also provide additional corrosion protection.
